About me
Zhuoran (Newt) Tan is a security researcher specialising in AI/LLM security, software supply chain security, and runtime threat detection. He recently completed his PhD in Computing Science at the University of Glasgow, where his research focused on runtime observability and security analytics for software supply chain defence. His work spans agent and MCP tool security, software sandboxing, provenance analysis, and adversarial testing of LLM systems. He is the lead developer of SandScope, a Rust- and WebAssembly-based sandbox for the behavioural auditing of untrusted software dependencies and MCP tool servers. His research has appeared in venues including ACM CCS, IEEE IOTJ, SCORED, and MSR, with additional work published at ACM FSE Companion and IEEE ICDCS Workshops.
